FOURTH TIME’S THE CHARM

No joke I colored this three different times, first being horrific and the other two just not sitting right with me.  I’m not crazy about this coloration either, but it’s the best one I’ve got at this point.

So, going by  established lore, this lovely is part of a clan that holds more closely to their draconic roots, somewhat due to their close proximity to a volcanic area.  So where do they live?  Hot springs!  Their clan is one of medicine makers and poison producers, using the unique flora and minerals around them to fashion these mixtures.  It seems their particular batch is emitting unexpected fumes…

One would think then that they would be fairly easy prey to a band of raiders or desperate clans then.  Except there’s something unique and a bit morbid about them; they’re cannibals.  Sort of.  Due to the unique and delicate mixture of soil, burial practices were quickly abandoned and cremation would use valuable tinder.  In lieu of this, ceremonial meals, made of the recently deceased, are prepared and eaten by close family and trusted comrades.  Eating the flesh of the dead is considered an honorable act of remembrance, taking the last of them into themselves and allowing the soul free while still holding a connection to those left behind.

Of course very few outside of the clan know these specifics and only know that they have a taste for the flesh of their own kind.  Not a great reputation, but tends to keep the rabble away at least!
